Top Ten Rock Band List From An Unknown Magazine

According to an article on radio station DC101, a “new magazine” put out a list of the list of the top 10 best bands ever.  Note that the name of the magazine wasn’t listed, and that the article doesn’t state whether it was a reader’s poll or a staff pick.  Either way, I’m pretty sure I won’t be reading this “new magazine”.  It’s a terrible list.

Here’s the list according to the article:

1. The Beatles

2. Led Zeppelin

3. Queen

4. The Cars

5. Heart

6. Green Day

7. Journey

8. Santana

9. Rolling Stones

10. Motley Crue

Personally, I think there’s only two bands which deserve to be there – and I’ll leave you to guess which ones.

What are your top 10 bands?

Looks like the author of that list want to include something from the 60s 70s 80s and 90s. Sheesh, it is a bad list.

The Cars are an interesting choice. In the late 70s early 80s, their songs were pitch-perfect FM radio music. Some good stuff there. You could probably make a case for any of these bands, if you were so inclined, but what would you be leaving out? Clash, Clapton, Springsteen, to name a few?

God, but Heart? They were lame when I was watching MTV in the early 80s!

    • The idea that somebody would think Motley Crue and Heart would be on there is laughable. And you’d excludes somebody like Dylan and a group like The Beach Boys at Crue and Heart’s inclusion.

I’d even take Cheap Trick over Heart. At least Cheap Trick had some fun songs.

  2. a few months ago, i found a journal from ’96 where you, kevin, liam, and i all listed our top 10 favorite bands. even as teenagers we had better taste than this anonymous writer.
