Summer Songs, Monday: “Summer in the City”

I think everyone can agree that this summer has been one of the hottest in years.  Besides being catchy, and have one of the best keyboard instrumentals in rock, the song does quite capture the heat of the city.   Just have to walk along the streets and “all along people looking half-dead”.  I disagree with the lyric suggesting that it is cooler at night.  There’s been a few occasions lately where I’ve been hotter at night.

But enough about my own personal problems with the heat.

And the always reliable Joe Cocker also did a cover version of the song as well.  (Seriously I could probably devote an entire week to Joe Cocker covers.)
